Dear Steve and Shirley,
I've been married to an interesting man for nineteen years, and we have a daughter who's a freshman in college. He works two jobs by choice because he gives our daughter everything she asks for. He stopped spoiling me years ago, and I'm a bit jealous. Since he works a lot, I have plenty of time alone. As they say, an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Out of sheer boredom, I started flirting with an old acquaintance on Facebook. He knows I'm married, and he's married, so we were both bored and wanted someone else to talk to.
He asked me where I worked, and I told him, though I didn’t mention that I'm working remotely right now. This past Friday, he dropped a small red box off at my office, and the receptionist called me to come pick it up. She said, "A man that's not your husband dropped off something for you." I went up to my office and retrieved the gift. The box contained some small red lingerie, one hundred dollars in cash, and a sweet card.
When I got home, I slid the box under my bed. Later, when my husband came home, I was already in bed. He was getting undressed when he took off his wedding band, which rolled under the bed. He saw the box, looked at me, and smiled. He opened it and started getting giddy, thinking it was his Valentine's present. I had to play it off and put the lingerie on, even though it was way too small for me and almost cut off my circulation. I couldn’t wait for him to rip it off—even though I had to endure two rounds of bad sex because of it. But he was so happy.
Now, I want my hundred dollars back, and I’m tempted to tell him that another man gave me that gift because he sent our daughter flowers for Valentine's and didn't give me any. Should I tell him, just to make him jealous?
