I Got Cold Feet About My Wig Choice

So, I was asked to be a celebrity judge at the Miss Fannie's Ball - a pageant for female impersonators that's been going on for more than 50 years.  Well, I knew there were going to be some fabulousness going on up in there, up in there...so I wanted to spice it up a little and bought me a wig!  Went right into Empire Beauty in North County, got help from their wig expert Angela --who helped me try on at least 8 wigs.  And in the store I loved this one.  I felt all Marilyn Monroe-y.  Then when I got home I had second thoughts...I felt like Evelyn Braxton.  Toni and 'nem's mama.  She's beautiful, but a little older than I wanted to look.  No shade, but Evelyn Braxton is a grandmother and I didn't want to look like somebody's grandmama.  I wanted to look hot and spicy and fabulous.  (That low key sounds like I'm describing a Chalupa).

Anyway.

So, as me and one of my besties, Kendra,  are pulling up to Miss Fannie's Ball - I got cold feet.  As soon as we get there, I ask her to come with me to the bathroom because I'm a little unsure of this new wig.  I needed some encouragement.  I needed some selfies!

And success!  A few hundred selfies and usies later, a bathroom video, some laughs with Kendra and some of the other bathroom goers....I was finally WIG READY!

And throughout the night, I got tons of compliments! I never wear wigs (unless it's Halloween or something), so I was a little nervous!  Thank you to Angela the wig expert for hooking me up.  And thank you to my friend, Kendra, who obliged in my bathroom video and selfie shenanigans and told me I only looked a little like Evelyn Braxton, but mostly looked cute.

And shout out to the vivacious Vicki Valentino, host of Miss Fannie's Ball.  She was great!  Funny and personable.  Always a great time when I see her!

See some of the other wigs I tried on....
