The Detroit Lions will host the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game to celebrate this year's induction class and kickoff the preseason on July 31, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on its official website Wednesday (April 23).

The game will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and will air live on NBC Sports with Mike Tirico serving as the play-by-play man, Cris Collinsworth as the lead analyst, Melissa Stark as the sideline reporter and Terry McAulay as the rules analyst.

The Lions, who had previously appeared in Hall of Fame Game three times, are coming off an NFC-Best 15-2 regular season in 2024, having reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The Chargers, who made two prior appearances in the Hall of Fame Game, finished with an 11-6 regular season record, having reached the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

“This game features two teams that can be considered legitimate contenders to reach Super Bowl LX next February,” said Jim Porter, president & CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “For them to face each other right out of the gate in Canton, Ohio, should create a dynamic opening to another spectacular NFL season.”
